Annual Health and Wellness Conference Promotes Mental Health Awareness

A graduate of California State University, Fresno, Daniel “Danny” Ashley received his BS in biology with a cumulative grade point average of 3.8. He was the recipient of many Fresno State honors and awards, including graduating magna cum laude with honors, and was a member of the honor society Phi Kappa Phi. A former physician assistant in the ED at Fresno Community Regional Medical Center, Danny Ashley is dedicated to serving the needs of the underprivileged by offering his services at community events, such as Fresno’s Annual Health and Wellness Conference.

Presented by Migrant Education Region IV, the Health and Wellness Conference’s first event was held in April 2019 with the goal of fostering communication between migrant parents and children about mental health issues. A variety of workshops were offered in both Spanish and English on topics that ranged from self-esteem, anxiety, and depression, to positive communication styles and healthy relationships.

Hosted by the Office of the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, the inaugural conference was held in the Fresno City College cafeteria on University Avenue.
