A magna cum laude graduate of UCSF with a bachelor of science in biology, Daniel “Danny” Ashley completed the school’s 2-year master of public administration program in just a year. In recognition of his academic achievements, Daniel “Danny” Ashley was named a Fresno State Smittcamp Family Honors College Presidents Scholar and a Top Dog Scholar.

Each year, the Fresno State Alumni Association recognizes academic accomplishment and leadership with its Top Dog awards. The Distinguished Alumni Award, the highest honor a graduate can achieve, acknowledges outstanding accomplishments during a post-collegiate career.

Each year, approximately 50 undergraduates are selected by the Fresno State Alumni Association for merit scholarships based on service and leadership during their junior and senior years. The Top Dog Alumni Awards Gala celebrates these students’ achievements, honoring Top Dog recipients with community-wide recognition and monetary prizes. To be eligible for a Top Dog award, students must have completed at least 30 hours of coursework at the university.
