The Annual Central California Research Symposium in Fresno
A magna cum laude graduate from the California State University, Daniel “Danny” Ashley earned his undergraduate degree in biology with a minor in physical science. One of Danny Ashley’s accomplishments while at Fresno State was co-presenting at the 39th Annual Central California Research Symposium on the topic of the impact of e-cigarette liquid on lung epithelial cells.
The long-running Fresno symposium gathers students, faculty, and investigators from a wide range of disciplines to their academic work. The selection of presenting participants starts with a review of abstracts by the Symposium Coordinating Committee. The threshold for selection is that the abstracts be well written and on topics that have scholarly merit.
One motivating factor for participants is a pair of endowed cash awards that go to the best graduate and undergraduate presentations. In addition, cash awards are provided in specific categories by organizations, such as The Educational Employees Credit Union and the American Chemical Society.
Once each year’s symposium is completed, a publication of the proceedings occurs. This is done to preserve presented research and stimulate ideas for future symposia and academic endeavors.
